Al-Ahli Hospital will hold its Continuing Medical Education (CME) meeting on 26 September 2010, 9:00 pm at the hospital’s auditorium.

Al-Ahli Hospital’s CME program is slated to be held on a monthly basis, whereby the hospital will invite international and local consultants to discuss latest medical issues.  This month’s meeting is also being held in commemoration of World Heart Day, and the CME will feature 3 speakers including Dr. Salim Mohammed who will present on challenges in the management of Unstable Angina (chest pain).

Dr. Djamel Bendaas, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Al-Ahli Hospital, will speak about the practical management of Acute Myocardial Infarction (heart attacks), while Al-Ahli Hospital’s Specialist Cardiologist, Dr. Joji Mathews will speak about the dilemma of pre-op cardiac assessment for non-cardiac procedures.

Al-Ahli Hospital’s Heart Care Center includes all aspects of non-invasive, interventional, and cardiac surgical treatment.  “As a lead cardiac center, we would like to extend our services to our fellow healthcare professionals in the community by keeping them abreast of the latest technologies, advancements, and trends in the delivery of cardiac care,” said Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Khulaifi, Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon and Director of Al-Ahli Hospital Heart Care Center.

Dr. Abdul Azim Abdul Wahab Hussain, Medical Director and Head of General Surgery Department, believes that, “As a responsible corporate citizen, Al-Ahli Hospital would like to give something back to the community.  And what better way to do this than by enlightening the doctors in the community through our monthly CME’s. Moreover, this year’s World Heart Day theme, ‘Workplace wellness: take responsibility for your own heart health’ is very apt given the fact that heart illness is the number one killer and it is our duty to do everything possible to reduce this epidemic”.
